Thing #1

Once I was finally able to view the presentation, 7 and 1/2 Habits of Lifelong Learners, I learned that the easiest habit for me is Habit 6:  Use technology to your advantage.  I use technology whenever I can to help me learn new things.  One of my classes had us read a book and with my busy life it is hard for me to sit down and read so I found the book in digital form.  I uploaded it onto my MP3 player and listened to it while I was driving to and from school.  It made it so much easier for me to finish the book in the shortest time amount of time possible.
The hardest habit for me is Habit 3:  View problems as challenges.  When a crisis occurs in my life, I tend to worry and then overreact.  I deal with the issue and then put it behind me.  I need to start viewing the crisis in my life as learning opportunities instead of just putting the crisis behind me.
I look forward to learning more about Web 2.0 and creating a blog.  So far, creating this blog has been very easy.  I just hope the rest of the projects I can pick up as easy.

  1. I think using technology to get through your reading assignments is a fantastic idea! While I love to read, I understand how sometimes reading assignments can make you feel overwhelmed because it’s just something else you have to do, rather than something you really want to do. I have always just read anything I was assigned but I sometimes find that I do not retain all of the information that I read because I try to rush through the reading to finish it and do not think about it. However, by listening to books in your car, I would assume that it is much easier to get through it because you can listen to a little at a time and you can kill two birds with one stone (driving and “reading” at the same time).

  2. You are definitely good at technology as you have helped me out in the class. I agree with you that a hard habit for me and other people is viewing problems as challenges. I view problems as just problems. I think the electronic book is amazing. I wonder how much more an electronic book would help students than a regular textbook?
